“Our son Collin was born on September 24th with no problems. In order for my wife to get some sleep she asked the nurses to take care of him during that night. At some point early in the morning of September 25th, Collin spit up some milk and some tiny dark green pieces (I don’t have the technical term). Bonita immediately recognized this as a problem, informed the pediatrician and took Collin to have his intestines x-rayed. A malrotation was discovered and Collin was rushed to LeBonheur and underwent surgery 5 hours after the initial discovery. The malrotation was removed, the colon turned pink, nothing had to be cut, he recovered for two weeks before being released home. We were later told that the events from discovery to surgery went in textbook order and speed and that the fast and accurate actions of Bonita might have saved our son’s life, and certainly prevented further complications. He also had one of the fastest recoveries due to the fact that everything went smoothly. Today Collin is a perfectly healthy baby. He is growing, gaining weight, and is bringing great joy to big sister, parents and grandparents. We are very grateful for his healing and praise God for Bonita, the nurses, paramedics, doctors and surgeons that made this miracle possible.”
