I came in for my first birth and Brenda Brown was my nurse. She had come in early because L&D was so busy. She was very attentive while we waited to be put in a delivery room. The wait was eight hours, but I was being induced and was non-emergency.
As soon as I was moved to delivery, Brenda made sure we were settled in and said she hoped to make it to the end with us. My labor progressed very quickly. I had no idea what to expect since this was my first birth. Brenda was there every moment she was needed. I never had to ask where she was or had to call her. She talked me through every contraction and reminded me to breathe and relax from my head to my toes. She let me labor just the way my body needed to and coached me all the way. I made it to the end of my labor without an epidural which was my main goal. When it was time to push, Brenda was excited and full of energy and that carried over to me, and she made sure that I knew that I could do it.
Brenda stayed past her scheduled shift just so she could finish out my delivery with me. Because of Brenda's coaching, support, and care I would say my labor was near perfect. She went above and beyond to make sure my labor story was the best that it could be. Brenda was amazing and I owe her so much thanks.
