Last week Brenda had a busy patient assignment that included an apprehensive patient and father that was unfamiliar with his complicated diagnosis. Needless to say a patient and family combination such as this involves extraordinarily delicate care and patience. In the midst of this busy assignment, Brenda took the time to not only give the child the extra time he required, but to provide teaching to the father as well. She ensured the Charge RN was aware of the unique needs of this family, as well as advocating for the needs of the other patients involved in this assignment.

Brenda consistently demonstrates loving, devoted care to her patients and their families whether it be by holding, giving hugs, offering kind words, smiles, or bringing toys for the patient or their siblings. She is known among her peers for being a nurse that consistently asks "Why?" utilizing best practice, rather than relying on the "This is how we have always done it" response. No detail is too small, no patient or family request too insignificant.
