Sharing just one story detailing all the extraordinary work Brenda Eng does day in and day out here at SCH doesn't do her service. Every day, sometimes 7 days a week, Brenda provides exemplary care for our Orthopedics patients. She is always the first to arrive and the last to leave, most of the time walking home in the dark each day from work. She manages our extremely busy orthopedics inpatient service with care, compassion, and professionalism that is second to none. She coordinates care between the surgeon, resident, nurse, therapist, specialist, and many more to give our patients the most seamless inpatient experience she can. For some of her favorite patients, she may even hand crochet a special doll or bring her therapy dogs bedside for a weekend visit.
Brenda leads by example in our department, creating change or organization wherever it is needed. She has spearheaded new positions, created orientation education and single-handedly mentored every orthopedic resident that walks through our doors. She has been known to make a mean cheese dip/fiesta lunch to celebrate our residents as they graduate from their 6-month stint here at SCH. When she isn't here at our hospital, which is almost never, she spends her summer vacation days creating a special experience for kids at Camp Korey or other pediatric camps around the world.
Brenda is a very deserving recipient of The DAISY Award, though she will be less than thrilled to be recognized publicly for all that she does. She prefers to show her dedication to her job more with happy patient smiles than certificates on a wall. But for her patients and her colleagues, we would be thrilled to recognize all that she does for our department.
