I was recently admitted to the hospital after experiencing a traumatic injury to my face and neck. This injury occurred while I was at my workplace caring for a mentally ill client.

When I came to Froedtert, I expected a clinical, sterile environment. What I received was extraordinary, compassionate care! This experience has changed my mind about Froedtert and I will share this with my friends and family.

During my time at Froedtert, I had one nurse who went above and beyond the call of duty. During my first night at the hospital, I was scared, afraid, anxious, and in an extreme amount of pain. I could not close my eyes without vividly seeing the events of that day. All I could see when I closed my eyes was the patient I had cared for coming toward me and kicking me in the face, forcing my neck to fly backwards. No matter how I tried, I kept reliving this traumatic injury over and over.

Brenna was my nurse on 2NT. It was because of her that I made it through one of the most difficult days of my life and nursing career. Brenna stayed with me and comforted me when I could not shut my eyes or sleep. She listened to my story and my fears. Brenna anticipated my every need, and reassured me that everything was going to be alright. When I was afraid of feeling extreme pain, Brenna stayed on top of my pain medications, and never let me fall behind. When I asked her if she needed to leave to take care of other things, Brenna said, "I am doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing, taking care of you".

I am so blessed that Brenna was my nurse. It was like Divine intervention! Brenna is a kind, compassionate, and an exceptional nurse.
