I was blessed and thrilled to be in the second-time care of nurse extraordinaire, Bridget Falaniko, during the labor and delivery of my second child in July. Building upon the relationship we had established during the labor and delivery of my first child nearly three years prior, Bridget didn't miss a beat in making us feel safe and secure. She excelled at supporting us and helping us to work to achieve our desired birth scenario.
On the most recent occasion, we were in her care, she was especially competent and caring as I had to be continuously tethered and monitored. Not having expected or anticipated that she made it as smooth and comfortable as possible for me to labor naturally and freely. We really appreciated her encouragement, and I especially have to congratulate and recognize her for attempting to suggest and offer alternatives to an epidural when I finally made that request, as she knew that I had been pretty adamant about not wanting one. I would have never expected a nurse to so kindly educate me and my husband on alternatives, especially knowing that our wish was to have a natural childbirth. Her understanding, caring, and empathy when I ultimately decided to have an epidural continued to put me at ease. She is also adept and excelled at transitioning care to the next nurse when her shift ends, and during both of my long labors, she made the transition with ease and comfort for us.
I will forever remember Bridget fondly and appreciatively as an active participant in the birth of both of my sons, and be grateful for her care.
