I work on the same area as Bridget but not with her.
One day I was in the office she uses because I needed to use the printer. The time was going towards 5 pm and Bridget was expected home for a birthday celebration. She was already late going home. It was dark and raining outside.
Bridget had to telephone an elderly patient who was due to come in for surgery, to inform him that he needed swabs to be taken prior to surgery, which was imminent.
She had tried the GP surgery and every other way she could to get someone to go out to the patient's home, which was a considerable way away, so that he would not have to come out in the bad weather. As she couldn't find anyone who would do that, she arranged to meet the patient and his wife midway between his house and the hospital and she did the swabs herself. She then drove back to the hospital in order to ensure that they went to the laboratory for reporting on time.
This is not an isolated incident and I feel she thoroughly deserves an award for her dedication and kindness to her patients and colleagues.
