My husband had been very sick. I am not sure how many units of blood he had that day. Things were still scary and I was exhausted. Brittany asked me if I had been able to rest. Brittany took time to care about the patient's wife as well as doing a wonderful job caring for the patient. She came to me in the afternoon again and said you must get some rest, let me help you get a place at the hotel. I had no idea what she was talking about so she explained that since I was needed to stay close and I live 95 miles away, a form could be signed by the doctor and if there was a room I could stay right there on the VA grounds. She sent a staff member to get the form, had the doctor sign the form and gave me good instructions as to how to get to the Emergency Room for more details and reservation. The ER administrative person stated where the room was. I was able to get a shower and a good night's rest. In that night the procedure the doctor wanted to do became possible and I was called and could just run across the parking lot to sign consents. THANK YOU, Brittany, for your extra special care to the patient and their family.
