Brittany has been my mom's day nurse for the last three days. She has demonstrated compassion and empathy which helped my mom handle her stressful issues. But to me, as the POA for my mom, what mattered more was the brilliance, dedication to finding the right answer, not just the most obvious. As a respected member of the medical care team helping my mom, she consistently briefed the doctors on not only the stats and measurements she witnessed, she also shared other factors and attributes that helped them make the best decision each step of the way. For example, after initial testing of the fluid from my mom's thoracentesis didn't show any organisms, the decision was made to stop the antibiotic she had been prescribed prophylactically. However, after another day of suctioning the remaining sputum, she raised the fact that the color and consistency more closely matched an infection than had typical of heart failure. The doctor agreed and re-prescribed. She appreciates my mom's complicated issues and is working diligently to treat each separately and in a cohort, I cannot imagine a better patient advocate. I can't imagine a better health care profession.

Brittany provided very compassionate care and her willingness to listen to my concerns for Mom was amazing. As a healthcare professional in a hospital, I can say she demonstrated excellent care.
