Today one of the staff members told me a story about one of the patients that had difficulty getting to the hospital to have his weekly procedure done due to vehicle issues. Some days he would have to cancel his paracentesis because his vehicle would break down on his way to the hospital. Carabeth bought a new vehicle and decided to give her van to this patient so he would have reliable transportation. This patient was on the transplant list, and he was called Sunday for his transplant. He later passed due to cardiac complications.
There are not many people that would do such a wonderful thing for others like Carabeth did for this patient. Her kindness gave this patient a better life. He was very thankful for her gift that allowed him to keep his appointments. It's nurses like Carabeth that go above and beyond to make sure our patients at Baptist Health Corbin are taken care of and treated like family.
