Carol is a dedicated travel nurse who is an exceptional clinician and a strong patient advocate. This past year, Carol demonstrated extraordinary compassion while evacuating at-risk nursing home residents during Hurricane Harvey. Without hesitation, she volunteered to work around the clock, even without compensation. She just knew she had to help!
The center administrator later summed up Carol's exceptional service by describing her as "Passionate about nursing regardless of who the patient is." Several moments during the long, strenuous journey stand out, starting when Carol diligently ensured that each resident was safe, secure, and stable when loaded in the transport vans. Her compassion and commitment to providing comfort and care to each patient was nothing less than amazing! Later in the trip, her vigilant watch identified a resident in distress requiring emergency care. With the EMS providers overwhelmed and unable to respond, Carol instructed the caravan to divert to the closest hospital. Her exceptional nursing care made a significant difference not only for that patient but all the residents and staff. Carol is a caring, determined patient advocate every day and she is more than deserving of recognition as an extraordinary nursing professional.
