I am an employee in the ER and when I had my new baby 6 weeks early it was nice to be here in my work home having people take care of me and my baby. When he was born so early it was a huge shock and such a scary moment having my newborn taken away from you. Carrie Greene was an absolutely amazing nurse. When we had to be discharged after my c-section, I felt so comfortable knowing Carrie was taking care of our son. I felt like she was his "hospital - mommy" because we could not be. Nights when she was his nurse, we would stay at home all night and actually sleep because we knew he was in good hands. She made our stay so pleasant and always kept us informed on everything that was being done for our son. She was very hands on with us as well. She allowed us to do most of our son's care and that helped us bond as well. I still keep a relationship with her and she checks on my son on a weekly basis. We could not have had a better nurse for our son and she is truly living her calling with being a NICU nurse.

Carrie is one of the NICU's most passionate and compassionate nurses. She loves to primary infants, starting close to admission and caring for the infant each shift until they leave our unit. Within past months, Carrie chose to primary a baby who was not only premature and small for his gestational age, but he also had multiple physical abnormalities that if not repaired would be fatal. Very few nurses volunteer to primary that type of baby, because the emotional costs to the nurse are very high. Carrie cared for this baby as if he were her own and developed a strong bond with the baby's parents and family. She worked hard with case management, respiratory therapy, PT, and neonatology as this baby's champion and advocate. Unfortunately this baby did not survive, but Carrie volunteered to come in on her day off at the end. She exemplifies respectful compassion!
