After four months of watching the Intensive Care Nursery (ICN) teamwork with her infant son, E, C was singing the praises of "all the people who touched our lives" - most of all Chelsea Curran, RN, E's primary nurse.
"Chelsea was a rock star. During our 121 days in the ICN we cried, laughed, celebrated milestones, shared memories and welcomed Chelsea into our family," she wrote. "She took wonderful care of E and wonderful care of us and that's something we will always remember, she treated our entire family and always kept that smile on her face."
Curran's smiles and other intangibles, on top of the medical care, "always made it seem like everything was okay," said C, who recalled the extra effort Curran took with the scrapbook that C had started during activities that the March of Dimes puts on for families of long-term patients.
"At night," C recalled, "if something fun happened with E, Chelsea would take a photo and work on a scrapbook page." Curran was there to capture milestones in E's life when C couldn't be there.
"Chelsea was there both during the bad times and the good times, she was there on her days off and she called to check in, she cared for E like he was her own," wrote C.
