In the ICU, there was a particular patient, she was a young individual with Downs Syndrome. Unfortunately, this very young individual was deteriorating regardless of our efforts. The family agreed to withdrawal from care and make the young individual a donor patient. The family was planning a tiny remembrance gathering for the young woman the day that she was getting withdrawal from care. This gathering was a last minute decision made by the family. When Christiane found out about the gathering, she went above and beyond. She wanted to get a special cake designed for this young individual. Due to time restraints, it was very difficult to find places to create a custom cake in such a short time. Still, she was able to get a custom unicorn cake made for the patient. Christiane is a kindhearted and hardworking individual. She goes above and beyond for her patients and ICU staff members. Christiane's positive and cheerful demeanor resonates through the unit and helps bring up the morale during rough times.

I would like to thank Chris for her compassion and knowledge. She has treated us like family through this very difficult time. She has also helped us to understand many medical things we didn't know of. Chris helped us celebrate my aunt's life. She ordered her the most beautiful unicorn cake and she even combed her hair in the cutest style. Every time Chris spoke to my aunt everyone in the room could feel all the kindness and compassion Chris carries in her heart. My family will never forget Chris. She is our angel.

My aunt will be taken off life support. Chris has gone above and beyond to make this moment as easy as it can. My aunt will be taken off before her 37th birthday. Chris got a cake for the party and even put some balloons. Thank you so very much for loving us like family. Chris will be in my heart. She is a true angel.

Nurse Chris is a gold mine. She's amazing in everything she does. When I first met Chris, I thought she was very strict and structured. But she had a good reason! As I watched her work and care for my little sister, B, she was very gentle and also spoke to B letting her know what she was about to do to help her, even though she was in an induced coma. In the early mornings, she would gently comb B's hair and style it in different braids and buns. (B looked so cute!) I can't express how much this meant to my family and I, Chris made us feel like family. My other sisters were discussing having B's final birthday party there at the hospital and Chris jumped at getting us a conference room and she even contacted another nurse to make a beautiful unicorn cake and she bought the cake for B (it was so beautiful and yummy). Chris even came in on her day off to bring the cake to the party. We can't thank Chris enough for her generosity, compassion, expertise, preciseness, going above and beyond, gentleness, love, and so much more. Chris is genuine and one in a million! A true blessing to our family! Thank you!
Note: This is Chris' 2nd DAISY Award!
