Cindy Huber was nominated for the DAISY Award for her outstanding work in pediatrics. Cindy helped a little girl and her family through a scary time. The patient had an infection that required her to come to the hospital for IV antibiotics. One of these appointments fell on the little girls 5th birthday. Cindy took it upon herself to make her day special even though she had to be at the hospital on her birthday. When the patient arrived for her transfusion Cindy was sure to have a surprise waiting for her. At subsequent visits this little patient was always relieved to see Cindy waiting for her. Not only did Cindy make putting in the IV a little easier, but she would also stay late after her shift so that she would be the one to take it out after the antibiotic was all through. This patient and her family will not soon forget the wonderful, compassionate care that Cindy gave them.
