This unit had a non-English speaking patient who was receiving chemo and was staying at the Lodge with no family, food or money. For the next 3 days, Cindy personally purchased meals for the patient and delivered them to him at the Lodge. This is only one of the many examples over the years of Cindy's kindness and generosity. Cindy has anonymously helped many patients, their families, and co-workers.
Secondly, Cindy has shown great leadership in many ways. She is always willing to alter her schedule to meet the needs of the department. Cindy graciously takes on difficult situations with patients and their families. Recently Cindy showed leadership and compassion by taking the lead on caring for an extremely volatile and belligerent patient to resolve the conflict with professionalism.
As an excellent team player, Cindy freely volunteered to care for a patient with active bed bugs, when others would have and did, hesitate.
Cindy exhibits extraordinary skills and knowledge. Often time inpatient units will call requesting Cindy personally to assist in starting a difficult IV. Cindy takes opportunities, as they come, to share skills and knowledge with others.
Cindy is a true DAISY Nurse who lifts the spirits of all those around her.
