We met Claudine in pre-op. It was 6 am and she was enthusiastic, kind and caring. When L was called to surgery, he did not want to go. Our guardian angel Claudine just happened to open the door to the hallway. She offered to take him to surgery and he agreed to go. Next thing I knew, she was giving him a piggyback ride to the OR. I then went to the waiting room and here comes Claudine. She went out of her way to give me a quick update on how L did going into surgery. Once he was done, it seemed like it was taking a while for us to be called back, but she made a point to notify the waiting room that he was fine but still sleeping. When I was called back to recovery, I was thrilled to see Claudine was still our nurse. I was so grateful for that because L was comfortable with her and it made the situation less stressful for him. L was a handful waking up, but she never showed signs of frustration, only patience and continually going above and beyond to make him feel better. At one point she brought out a toy truck to help encourage him to eat. This might seem minor to some, but she spent a long time trying to delicately remove the IV tape. She removed it without any pain and she will likely recall how upset L was, knowing it had to be removed. She is truly dedicated to her job. She was respectful, funny, positive, professional and loving. Claudine is knowledgeable and was able to answer all of my questions with confidence.
