My husband and I want to let you know about the experience we had while having our daughter at St. Mary's. Things did not go according to plan and there was a number of scary moments. The week we were admitted was full of stressors, but the team of care providers was fantastic. So many people were involved in our care, but I wanted to highlight our LD nurse Corrie, specifically. She was with us for most of our stay, making us comfortable and helping us learn about our new life. I have a new respect for LD nurses since I had no idea how much help I was going to need from learning about my baby to taking care of my own body. Her help was incredible. Thank you, Corrie, for all that you did.

Recently, my wife and I welcomed our first child into the world. The process was nothing, if not complicated, worrisome, and unpredicted. To summate, after nearly two and a half days of being in labor, it was decided that the baby needed to be delivered via Cesarean, and our daughter was brought into the world. Once she arrived there were a number of concerns that seemed to happen in a sequence of rapid-fire events. From needing to give her an immediate IV, to a seemingly non-functional bladder which required ultrasound imaging and catheters, and finally the possible onset of jaundice and high bilirubin results from numerous foot sticks. However, despite all of this, on Friday, we brought both my wife and my new daughter home from St. Mary's, safe and in one piece.
To say that all of these sequences and events were physically and emotionally trying on both my wife and myself would not do them justice. However, the staff at St. Mary's was incredible, and both my wife and I feel that these folks need to be recognized for the care that was provided, as well as the compassion with which it was delivered. It is often the fact that great work goes unrecognized, and that focus often lies on results, or numbers, or bottom lines. The fact that I can go to sleep each night and know that I have a wife and daughter, thanks to the skills of St. Mary's staff cannot go unmentioned even in this small measure.
