Cortney made an immediate impression with her smile when she came as my nurse after my open heart surgery. There was a little twinkle in her eyes that told me, I'm here for you. My first impression was her patience. I normally do not have a problem taking pills. Obviously, this was going to be different. Cortney tried several solutions. She said, take whatever time you need - it worked! Another situation that arose demonstrated her sense of caring. There had been an alert days before about fraudulent credit card use. I showed it to Cortney and without hesitation she said, "No worries, I will help you with this". She helped converse with my bank resulting in a new card being issued. Throughout my stay, I was unable to use my hearing aids. Cortney made an impact by being my ears with all the assistants, nurses, and physicians. She immediately made them aware of my hearing difficulties, so I was able to understand their conversation. Cortney has persistence. She knew in her quiet way how to encourage me to do a little more each day. When she was assigned to me, there were 4 boxes on the white board titled - walk. Each time we finished one, no matter how far, she would check it off. Encouraging motivation! Cortney is a DAISY!

Each morning Cortney would patiently answer all my questions about my mother's complicated recovery. She encouraged me to call her at 5:00 pm for my mom's progress report. She provided a brand of care that went beyond the requirements of her job and was very instrumental in my mom's healing process. She was a cheerleader when her spirits were low and a taskmaster when she needed a push.
