I was recently hospitalized at Seton Main due to a miscarriage of my twin boys at 15.5 weeks. It was by far the hardest experience of both mine and my husband's lives. I was actively laboring with incredibly painful contractions and severe bleeding. To complicate things further, I also developed a uterine and blood infection. I delivered both babies but then had to be taken somewhat emergently to the OR for a D&C to stop the hemorrhaging from the placenta.
As you can imagine, this was all pretty traumatizing and devastating. We received excellent care from so many, but one nurse stood out to us. Through all the chaos, Dala Thomas stayed calm and confident and gave us the gift of knowing we were in excellent hands. She never left my side that first day, and when she delivered any updates she did so with clear and thorough communication while also showing compassion and empathy.
Dala went above and beyond to make sure I was as comfortable as possible and kept me informed with thoughtful and clear updates. The next day we were able to have her as our nurse again, and she continued to amaze us with her attentiveness and caring. I have never encountered such a genuine, kind and competent nurse. Seton is so very lucky to have her as an employee, and any mothers that she cares for in the future are blessed beyond measure.
