We had a procedure scheduled for baby first thing in the morning. Dan was very understanding and apologetic when we were told after our arrival to the PACU that baby would need to stay overnight due to his medical history of prematurity, which we were wholly unprepared for. He allowed me to voice my frustration with the lack of communication and apologized that we weren't informed of this policy prior to our arrival. We have a unique family dynamic with foster parents and bio parents involved. Tensions arose between bio parents and the ENT. Dan did a wonderful job remaining calm during this uncomfortable situation and attempted to bring the focus back to the baby, and the procedure he was about to undergo. He did not raise his voice and did his best to help diffuse the situation so that we could move forward with the procedure as scheduled. Thank you, Dan, for your commitment to patient-centered care, and for staying calm during a situation that was stressful for all of us.
