Diana is a wonderful nurse, one who really keeps the patient at the forefront of her care. Her clinical knowledge is excellent, and staff on the unit seeks her out for mentoring and coaching. Diana really understands evidence-based practice and is the first one to step forward and offer to research something to assure we provide appropriate care for our patients. Diana was one of the first Clinical Instructors for the Dedicated Education Unit through the University of Portland and continues in that role today. Her students rate her very highly, I have heard some of the following comments:

...Expert in nursing knowledge and skills, very approachable and nurturing yet holds students to high standards and stretches their learning.

"Not only have you been a wealth of information, but you have provided a constant presence that has proven to be calming on the most hectic of days".

"I was particularly thankful to have you teaching me when I was learning about IV's, the way you explained everything step-by-step was conducive to my learning style".

Diana has maintained her Neuroscience certification for many years. She has helped teach our unit competencies and is currently working in the role of CPM Champion. Diana has taken her education a step further by earning her Master's degree as a Clinical Nurse Leader. She is active on the Unit-Based Partnership Council and a key player in urging all staff to routinely ambulate their patients to improve patient outcomes and decrease length of stay.

Diana is a true team player on her unit. She volunteers to take another patient, to help a staff member by trading a shift, and she frequently offers assistance to one of her co-workers who needs extra assistance. Diana has set a high standard on our unit and staff work hard to emulate her practice. She has had a powerful impact on the 9th floor, staff, patients, and students consistently recognize her on so many levels.
