One of our patients, PN, was diagnosed with AML in June 2014. He came to CTCA shortly after he was diagnosed for a second opinion and treatment. PN's wife was pregnant with their third child, the first girl! The only thing more important to PN than his family, as we were quick to find out, is Notre Dame. PN is a fanatical Notre Dame Football fan! We even had a birthday cake for PN decorated in his beloved Notre Dame colors
PN is one of our local patients. He was treated here at CTCA, but unfortunately had a very difficult disease profile and was ultimately referred to Sloan Kettering for targeted gene therapy. PN and his wife keep in close touch with their CTCA family, keeping us informed of his progress and stopping by the unit when they have appointments.
As the 2015/16 football season approached, Diane Sincavage decided to purchase tickets to the Temple Notre Dame Football game for PN. However, in order to get the tickets for the Notre Dame game, Diane had to purchase season tickets, which she did, without even thinking twice!
Diane treats each and every patient as if they are members of her own family. She often brings in special homemade treats for patients and also provides items that patients are not able to obtain on their own, for example soap or deodorant that a patient might prefer. Diane's fellow stakeholders also benefit from her kindness. She surprises her coworkers with gifts from her vacation spots and she makes the most delicious cakes for everyone to enjoy! More importantly, she willingly shares her vast nursing expertise with her fellow stakeholders. The football tickets and all of the other acts of kindness from Diane show that she truly exemplifies the Mother Standard of Care, not only with PN but with all of her patients.
Update on PN: PN now has a beautiful baby girl! He will undergo a stem cell transplant in the near future.
