I nominate Donell Williams, RN on 4200 at Bethesda North, for the DAISY Award. I have known Donell for four years and her dedication to nursing has inspired me. She excels as a caregiver, patient advocate, educator and leader. She is a helpful and supportive colleague.
Donell provides high quality care to her patients in every situation. Her quick critical thinking skills combined with her compassion make her an excellent nurse. She treats all of her patients with dignity and respect.
As a former care coordinator, Donell realizes the importance of caring for patients in the moment while still looking to the future and planning their discharge needs. She works closely with all members of the treatment team to make certain patient needs are always met.
Becoming a Magnet Organization has been an important goal for the nurses at TriHealth. Donell has demonstrated her leadership qualities as our unit Professional Excellence Champion. She has gone above and beyond to not only educate staff on what we need to know for the Magnet site visit, but to inspire us to realize how important Magnet designation is for all of us.
She is also a very creative educator. Her beautiful posters hanging throughout our unit educate staff on pertinent topics related to patient care, and the patients and their families on how we provide care. The posters also illustrate what the nurses do outside of the unit. I have seen firsthand how these posters can improve confidence in the patients and their families about the care they are receiving.
