Bethesda North Hospital

Donna Thomas, RN – 6300

On 10/25, Donna and other staff members went above and beyond the call of duty. Donna had a patient on the floor who just had hip surgery that day and the viewing for her recently deceased spouse was the same day. In effort to address the “whole” patient, Donna assisted in making arrangements and have the “viewing” held at the hospital so patient and family could attend to both viewing and Mom’s emotional needs. I was told the event went smoothly and family was grateful for efforts put forth by Donna and her co-workers.

Additional nomination
Donna was charge nurse and with the help from other nurses made arrangement for a patient that had a hip fracture surgery to be able to have her spouse’s viewing in the Golder Room. This patient’s spouse had died and the funeral was to happen while patient was in the hospital. These nurses went above and beyond to make sure the patient would be able to view the body and have a small service here. The patient was not medically stable to discharge for the funeral. This was very special for the patient. These nurses, especially Donna should be recognized for their exceptional customer service and compassion.
