Eileen role models professionalism and strong leadership on the unit, and she delivers excellent patient care. She leads the preceptor workgroup and VAD super user workgroup. With her leadership, learning needs of new staff are addressed, leading to strong development of nurses. As a care giver at the bedside, patients receive individualized and excellent care.
Eileen embodies what Magnet nursing is. She has an innate ability to see what is right and needed, and is willing to advocate for that. She has connected with several complex patients over this year, serving as a source of strength and comfort to them. You see Eileen visiting patients in the ICU as they transition to end of life care, you see her holding a patient's hand who is scared and not feeling well, and you see her celebrating as patients progress and get better.
As a leader, Eileen is also always willing to do what the unit needs. To support our skill mix, she went to night shift. She works tirelessly to put out a schedule that meets our staffing and our staff's needs. Eileen continues to push us all to constantly assess our nursing care and look for ways to improve or barriers to address so that we can continually be better.
