Recently, I've had many opportunities to work alongside Eric and see the kindness, compassion, ethics, and care that he shows in his professional practice. Eric supports Nursing and Medical staff every day with his expertise and his patient care, while he participates in Quality Performance Improvement Projects. He schedules, organizes, and hosts Prevalence and Incidence studies. He works with Materials Management and vendors to get the very best supplies for our patients. He partners with nursing education to train new nurses, participates in skills days, and hosts Wound Care Training Classes and Boot Camps developed by himself which are wonderfully received throughout the organization. I could go on about all the things he does—many of which I only recently have had a chance to see in action, but his drive for best practice in patient care is an example for us all.
What makes Eric more than just a great employee and member of our organization is that he is also an amazing example of a nurse and patient advocate. Not only is hefocused on thebig picture, but he also focuses on small gestures and that makes him a perfect DAISY Nurse. Little things, like watching him zoom in and out of a picture so it looks right before showing it to the patient or making sure the blinds are open so that they can get a bit of sunlight, remind us that Eric is more than just a wound care guru.
