My husband, J, has been hospitalized three times in the last three months. The second time, he was in cardiac arrest for 28 minutes and was taken by ambulance to the Banner Casa Grande Medical Center emergency room. All of the staff there were exceptional in working on him, but we would like to recognize one of his nurses, Erin Hillock.
After being told that the medical staff had done everything they could and they could not get J's heart to start beating, I was brought into the room where they continued to work on him I began talking to J and praying to God, specifically telling God that I was not ready to be on earth by myself but if it was His will, to please give me the strength to get through this.
Sometime during that time, one of the nurses said she thought she felt a pulse in J's groin area. The doctor reconfirmed it and told me that she had never witnessed anything like this. If it hadn't been for the nurse initially finding a pulse, I'm not sure how things would have ended. We are so thankful for her diligence and persistence.
Erin, however, was especially comforting to me. She was reassuring, extremely compassionate and answered my many questions during this stressful time. After J was transferred to the Banner Heart Hospital in Mesa, Erin took the time to stop by twice, just to see how J was doing. This was amazing to us. We consider your nurses as God's angels, along with all of the others who were instrumental in reviving J. Their compassionate care is just amazing to us.
