We had just learned that my friend of over 30 years was not going to survive the hemorrhagic stroke that she had 7 days earlier, and it was my first allowed visit since she left NCU. I had to take a moment to go outside in the hallway where I began to cry. Euniecia was farther up the hallway working on her computer. When she saw that I was struggling, she stopped what she was doing and came down the hall to comfort me. She was wonderful! She let me cry and gave me a hug and held onto me. Her words were much needed at that moment.
I know how hard nurses work and how large their patient loads usually are, but Euniecia took the time to comfort me. Not only that but the next day when she saw me again, she was on a phone call that she ended and came up and gave me another hug and asked how I was doing. So, not only did she give my friend excellent care in her final few days, but she cared for those who were losing someone who was dearly loved - and that is exemplary. I will be forever grateful for her kindness.
