There is a special kind of person who takes on the role of a NICU nurse. Your love, compassion, and dedication to your job are what is most appreciated. Not many people get to experience the NICU when they have a baby. My husband and I never thought in a million years that it would be us. When our son was born 11 weeks early, we had no idea of what to expect behind those locked doors. We thought what every parent would think, the worst. You helped us understand that our son was in the best place and that he would be taken care of here. We could not comprehend the bonds that would be made here. Your skill and compassion for your job are amazing! People asked us 'how did you deal with a stranger taking care of your baby when you couldn't be there?' We are glad that you were our stranger! We are beyond grateful for you, and words could never express how much we appreciate you taking care of our son. You always went above and beyond for us. You never hesitated to explain something to us when we didn't understand. You were always the first to ask my husband and me how we were doing. You were very supportive in helping us build a bond with our son. I could go on and on. You are just wonderful. The 66 days that our baby spent in the NICU were hard, but we knew he was in the best place, and that the right set of hands was taking care of our baby boy. We are beyond thankful that most of those days were spent with you. True to the words of Winnie the Pooh, "The smallest things take up the most room in your heart." Thank you again for taking such great care of our baby. You will always have a special place in our hearts.
