Evelyn truly made my birth experience amazing and unforgettable! The best word to explain my birth story is "magical".
After struggling with infertility for almost 3 years, we finally conceived our miracle baby. I had dreamt of being in labor and giving birth for so many years. Our time had finally come, and I wanted it to be perfect. Thanks to Evelyn, I can say it was!
Evelyn told me from the beginning that if I wanted an un-medicated birth she would do everything she could to achieve my goal. And she did just that. For over 10 hours, she worked her little butt off trying to get our baby to turn and helped me get through each and every contraction. From helping me in and out of the tub multiple times, rubbing my back, helping me lift my belly when I didn't have the strength to, and just being there for not only me but for my husband as well. Evelyn was our angel that day.
She was so supportive and not once did she make me feel pressured into having an epidural. In the end, after 13 hours of labor, I just could not take the pain any longer and Evelyn was right there to not only help me through it but to also make sure it was what I truly wanted. I felt like she was my voice when I was too scared and weak, that alone means so much to me.
Evelyn's shift ended before our baby arrived and I was so incredibly sad that she was not going to be by my side coaching me through it. I'm so thankful our photographer captured the moment when Evelyn was leaving, and we hugged so tightly. This photo will always mean so much to our family and I will cherish it forever.
Although her shift had ended, Evelyn called in later that evening to see how I was doing. She also stopped by the next day to say hello and to see the baby. This meant so much to me and touched my heart more than you could ever know.
I could go on for days about how wonderful my birth experience was thanks to Evelyn and the rest of my birth care team that day. From the nurses and doctors to the anesthesiologists, lactation consultants and even the dietary department. Everyone was so wonderful. Thank you all so much for such a positive birth experience.
