Floribel Reyes is one nurse who is competent and very reliable in discharging whatever job assigned to her. She is very meticulous in every aspect of carrying out her job as a nurse. I consider her a passionate advocate of patient safety. Currently, Ms. Floribel Reyes is my ever reliable charge nurse of CCU. When she is on duty I can rest at home without worrying that I have patients falling or developing pressure ulcers. She takes care of CCU 24 patients. She ensures that she visits each patient, inquire regarding their concerns, takes time to talk to them and exhaust all means to address their needs. She would personally call every physician who needs to see the patient to ensure that each of her patients received due care and all treatments are provided.
Ms. Floribel was my senior when I was just under orientation at CCU. I would observe her during duty time. Her dedication to her job as a nurse cannot be questioned by anyone. She always fights for her patients to be seen by treating physicians and ensures that any discipline required comes to examine her patient during her shift. She never stops calling those physicians until she will see them beside the patient and she would always remind them to do hand hygiene before examining each patient. Then I came to know that she is also Infection Control Link Nurse and is a very strong advocate of hand hygiene adherence. She led the campaign for hand hygiene in CCU. As I have said, she is a strong advocate of patient safety and hand hygiene is one of her ways to keep her patient's safe from infection that will further compromise the health of her patient.
As a charge nurse of CCU, she does her job accordingly and knows that she is accountable for the safety 24 patients and staff nurses. She faces challenges during her shift with calm and composure and always find ways and means to solve any problems that occur during her duty time without compromising her staff and the care of her 24 patients at CCU. She is a proactive nurse, charge, and colleague. She can peacefully face challenges and difficulty in discharging her duty.
At a time when the ED is crowded, she would call her CCU physician and insist on doing rounds to check which patients can be transferred or discharged in order to help ED open a bed. Some of her colleagues actually will accuse her of not letting them rest because she always finds ways and means to vacate CCU patients in ED and bring patients to CCU. She always replies that it is the patient's right to be in CCU so that they can receive the best cardiac care they deserve.
