Dad has been in the hospital over 3 weeks. Gabrielle has been so attentive, gentle, kind, helpful and uplifting. This has been a scary situation for all of us because he has seldom been ill. My sweet parents have not slept apart for over 26 years when my mom came to help with the birth of my daughter. Gabrielle has been very attentive with every need of my dad and mom. She is very gentle and explained every medicine or activity with Dad, several times when needed! She then explained it again to my mom and me, making sure all our questions were answered and even checked with the doctor to make sure it was addressed correctly.
When we received not great news and Mom and Dad were very sad, Gabrielle had really uplifting words for them both.
Even when she is not his nurse she stops by to check on him, cleans his room, brings him things, and checks his vitals. She stayed longer when Dad was getting blood to make sure he was okay. Gabrielle goes above and beyond a nurses' duty. We applaud her and are blessed she was in our life!

Gabrielle is one of the hardest working nurses I know. She is committed to making her patients have the best experience despite the many challenges the patients go through after having surgery. Gabrielle is seen always sitting at the bedside with her patients. She fully understands what it means to be patient and family focused. Gabrielle even spends extra time out of work sewing pillow cases for the pillows the patients must use after open heart surgery. Not only that but she is fully engaged on the unit and has come up with some of the best process improvements for the staff and even our patients.
Note: This is Gabrielle's 3rd DAISY Award!
