I am an OBGYN resident at THOCC. I came to the hospital to deliver my baby and Gigi took care of me initially when I got to the hospital and did a great job. However, the event that led to me nominating her for this award came the next day, after I had delivered my daughter. While on postpartum I had a large hemorrhage. My fresh out of nursing school nurse was not sure what to do in this emergency situation and correctly called for help. Gigi responded to this call and quickly went to work, putting an IV in, calling for medications to be brought to the room so they were available for the MD who was on her way. She was able to take over the room, and held my hand through a very uncomfortable and scary time. I credit Gigi with being a major driving force in saving my life. Having also worked with Gigi, I can say that this action is not unique to this one occurrence. Gigi is always available to help those around her and she has an outstanding knack for running a chaotic room. Her instincts in emergencies are fantastic and I am always happy to see her when things get crazy in Labor and Delivery.
