My family was on Haleigh's floor Veterans Day with my father-in-law who had been at Methodist for 11 weeks or so. He was nearing the end of his life and Haleigh went above and beyond to care for him and also care for us. We had 19 family members present and Haleigh made sure we had food, drinks, chairs, etc. She went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable all the while caring for her patient. My 10-yr-old daughter was there and had a rough time seeing her grandfather hooked up to the Bipap mask and Haleigh was so kind and explained the function of the Bipap in terms that a 10-yr-old could understand. When my daughter would become emotional and cry, Haleigh and the other nurses would take her to the family lounge area and just chat with her about anything, mainly makeup and One Direction but it was so kind of the entire staff. Haleigh also explained to the family what to expect toward the end of my father-in-law's life. She was gentle, concise and very caring. With 19 family members, she was being asked multiple questions and handled all of them with patience. My father-in-law lived through the night and passed on the 12th when another nurse was on duty. She was also a superstar. I can't say enough good things about the nursing staff but especially Haleigh Zyzda. She made that awful night tolerable for everyone.
