Heather Gilmore has been recognized as an outstanding role model to patients, their families and staff at Saint Luke’s East Hospital. Gilmore began her nursing career in 2009 on Med Surge at Saint Luke’s East Hospital. She recently transferred to the float pool in January of 2012. As a float pool nurse, she consistently displays versatility and continues to provide excellent patient care in all areas of the hospital including the Emergency Department and Interventional Radiology. She has quickly adapted to caring for critical care and cardiac focused patient populations. Her consistently happy, positive, and helpful attitude follows her wherever she goes. She provides excellent nursing care across the spectrum. She is sought after by all departments when they know she is working.

Heather consistently receives positive feedback from her patients. A patient recently called to report the excellent care she had received at Saint Luke’s East Hospital. The patient especially wanted to compliment Heather who took care of her both as an inpatient and then again on a second visit to the Emergency Department. The patient stated, “Heather was fabulous and is a fantastic nurse. She is very caring and explained everything very well. She is truly dedicated to her profession and loves what she does.”

Heather is well known for always having a smile on her face. Her teamwork and can do attitude set her apart. While working in the ICU, her peers recognized her for delivering excellent patient care on a very busy day. She had all her patients bathed and mobilized by 7:30 am. She discharged one patient to home and when ICU beds were needed quickly, she efficiently moved both of her other patients in anticipation for a new admit. All this was completed with a great attitude and her patients were all complimentary of her care. This is but one example of how Heather smoothly transitions through some of the most chaotic of days.

Heather has also been instrumental in assisting the Interventional Radiology unit. She has rearranged her schedule and come in extra on many days working in that department all day or covering over the busy hours to help staff make it through their shift a little easier. She continues to support her former Med Surg Unit by serving as a team leader when needed.

Thank you, Heather, for all of you do for both our patients and the staff at Saint Luke’s East Hospital. We are so proud you are a member of the team!
