The Veteran patients on the ward respect the professional opinion that Hortense (Emilie) is willing to offer. She serves all Veterans with need her help. She is always willing to serve. She supports the Veterans and reports to her supervisor any information that may be used to assist the Veteran in recovery.

After reviewing a muse system, of which I know nothing about, she took the time to explain it to me. She found information I would need to use, made it possible by advising me whom to see about questions, and how to make process as painless as possible. She is a true extra-extraordinary nurse.

She makes my day with her smile. She is like a ray of sunshine. Whatever your needs are she goes the mile for you. Always asks how you are feeling for the day and is very helpful.

Emilie has demonstrated the utmost professionalism as a nurse, and at the same time, is a wonderful human being. I was having a personality conflict with my roommate, which since then has been resolved wonderfully. She found out about it and called me to the side. She asked me, how I am feeling, and is everything ok. Her asking me about my feelings just caught me off guard. Her asking sent a message to me, that this woman is not just a nurse, but also a true human being. She has great compassion, commitment, and respect for her Veterans as well as her co-workers. To me, she does an excellent job and strives to be the best on her job, not feeling she is better than others are, but truly loves others and is kind and polite. She gives each of her Veteran's equal care and makes us feel at home. She exemplifies what a nurse should be like, representing the VA in extraordinary fashion, remaining humble and focused.
