The patient has been in the hospital for over a month and has had 9 I&Ds in those 30 days. The patient has a very complex wound with a wound vac and does not have a big appetite. Jaimie reported to me that the patient was not liking any of the food she was getting from the cafeteria. Jaimie told me that the patient has been craving Chex Mix and something different since she is tired of the hospital food. Jaimie told me she would bring her some goodies the next shift she worked (which was in two days). After working a long, 12-hour shift, Jaimie went to the store and bought several snacks that the patient was craving, some books and even got her some beautiful yellow flowers. The patient was so thankful and appreciated of this since she has been feeling a little down and depressed from being in the hospital for so long. This really made a difference in her care. The patient had a wonderful day and had a smile on her face all day!! This was an example of someone going above and beyond for a patient.
Note: This is Jaimie's 2nd DAISY Award!
