James (Jim) was nominated with this story:

"You may or may not remember me. My name is Lee and I was in the ICU about two weeks ago. I wanted to let you know that I've been sober since and am entering a Recovery Program tomorrow. In our conversations, you shared one of your friends had similar struggles and had gone to a rehab and if memory serves, went on to be an instructor and was living successfully. You inspired me more than you can probably understand and you're now saving a life outside of the ICU. I'll always be in debt to you for that.

Also, I remember asking if I could apologize to another nurse for what I had done and your answer to that was the best and only apology I could extend was to get well. I would like you and her to know I'll be living out that apology for the remainder of my life and couldn't be more excited about it. Anyway, thank you for going beyond your job description and responsibilities.

I hope you continue to further your education and reach your goal of Medical Administration I think it was. If you would like to write back, the letter will find its way to the Recovery Program Facility; however, there is a 30 day no contact order. Hope to hear from you."

(It should be noted that Jim and the patient have continued communication since his stay in the ICU.)
