Jan Mussell is a daytime House Supervisor and she is always willing to help. There are numerous examples of Jan's kindness and compassion that I can think of, however, one situation really jumped out to me that demonstrated what compassionate care truly looks like.

One evening, Jan had worked a 12-hour day as House Supervisor. Around 8:30 pm, Jan was finishing up some business and was about to go home. A Code Blue occurred and Jan immediately ran up to the unit to help. She instantly went to console the patient's husband, who was distraught and was trying to call his family. Jan grabbed the husband a chair and then sat with him outside the room as the code continued. She sat with the patient's husband for over 45 minutes. After the code ended, Jan went around asking all of the staff if there was anything she could do to help. She did not rush off when her duties were done for the day, and instead dedicated hours of compassionate care to those who really needed it.

Jan epitomizes what compassion and kindness truly means.
