Being admitted to the hospital came as a huge surprise. Initially, I was told that my stay would range from 6 weeks up to 10 weeks.
During my stay, there were very few moments of relief. Due to surgery and infection, there was a clear need for medication to relieve the pain. These pain medications are critical for the patient to remain comfortable and sane.
There were issues that arose and made it impossible for me to receive my medications on time. This seems to happen more often than I would have thought.
Initially, I did not believe there was anything that could be done. However, my nurse, Janeth was willing to fight for me. She did whatever was necessary to keep my medications being delivered on time. Janeth didn't have to go out on a limb as she did. She cared enough to make certain that her patient was comfortable. I was very grateful to have her on my side.
Additionally, she was so diligent and punctual when it came to her daily patient care. Even the little things matter to Janeth. One evening she was telling me that she asks each of her patients whether or not they brought their own toothbrush and toothpaste for their stay at the hospital. She cared enough so as to not waste the hospital's or the patient's resources. Most nurses don't consider the things that she is aware of and how they affect/relate to a patient's wellbeing.
