There are many times that I could describe where Janette would be worthy of receiving this award. On one occasion, she was our charge nurse and we had a patient who required a sitter. Later in the day, the patient's sitter was discontinued. The patient was very impulsive and kept jumping out of bed about every couple of minutes. The patient's bed alarm kept going off. The patient was lonely and very confused. Janette had the brilliant idea to take the patient to sit at the nurse's station, where she gave her things to work on for the floor, like folding towels and coloring us some pictures. She also bought the patient a donut and coffee for all her hard work she was doing for us. Soon, the rest of the staff began to follow Janette's great example and gave our patient other things to do. After this encounter, the patient was more cooperative and less impulsive. You could tell that the patient really enjoyed sitting up at the nurse's station with us. She did not have any visitors, and just needed to genuine human interaction and she recognized this before anyone. She is one of our best nurses, and truly deserves this award.
