My dad had his right kidney removed 5/22 and was admitted to ICU. He remained there for a couple of days and then was moved to the third floor. On 5/29 he took a turn for the worse and was readmitted to ICU. Jayme was dad's nurse during many of the hours he was in ICU. Jayme got my dad to smile not once but several times. I had not seen my dad smile for days at that point and Jayme's ability to get him to respond and smile was precious to me. Not only were her clinical skills exemplary, but her kindness towards my dad and our entire family was above and beyond anything I (personally) have experienced.

My dad's condition deteriorated rapidly. He made the decision he did not want to continue treatment. We respected and honored his wishes. On June 4, Dad was moved into hospice at Trinity and Jayme helped secure a nice room for him which more than accommodated his family/visitors during his last 33 hours. When Jayme was finished with her shift on June 5 she came to my dad's hospice room and served as a great comfort to all of us. Jayme remained there for at least an hour.

Although my dad passed away at 0220 June 6 and I miss him terribly I will never forget Jayme and the role she played in my dad's life and my life, her genuine care, concern and love for all of us during those tenuous hours and days.
