Jen is an exemplary nurse that sets the standards for her team. She is able to maintain a caring demeanor even in frustrating situations and maintains her focus on what is best for the patient. She is a strong advocate for doing the right thing, especially when it comes to the integrity of the patient and staff. Some of the strengths Jen displays and role models is her awareness of what is going on with individual staff and to have a good feel when a patient becomes unstable and requires more support. She is skilled at pulling in the proper resources and diligently following through, especially when it is difficult to get the right resources to quickly evaluate a patient.
Jen is willing to jump into the numbers and take patients when there is a shortage of staff. On more than one occasion, she has come in to cover a sick call at night. Her ability to be flexible, while maintaining a positive attitude is another way she demonstrates leadership on our team. Working with both new nurses and established staff, Jen is able to see the bigger picture of the flow on the floor and is constantly checking in with the staff to see if they need assistance. She takes the time with new nurses to work with them on their skill sets and helps them to navigate through situations that are new or difficult to work through.
Her upbeat personality and warm and smiling face are just the icing on the cake. Jen is always open to feedback and works hard to learn from situations that she feels should have had a better outcome. This includes situations with patients, families and even with other team members. She constantly contributes to the unit by always looking to improve and better ways we are working. She is dedicated to the team, her patients and our organization and seems to exemplify the values and standards of an amazing nurse.
