Today, a patient that was discharged yesterday came to the unit because he was confused about giving himself prescribed insulin shots. Jennifer had not taken care of him but spent over 1 hour teaching him how to use the insulin pens. The patient was upset and stressed. She confidently reassured him, we would take care of him. She went over all the insulin doses, checked his blood sugar, called the resident to get prescriptions for him. When he left, he told her it was a blessing that she was here today. On an everyday basis, Jennifer gives such compassionate care to her patients. She exemplifies what this award stands for. As her manager, it has been a pleasure to watch her grow into an exceptional nurse.
