I was experiencing a temperature, nausea, cough and a headache. An on-call Physician at the Urology Center where I am a patient directed me to the ED as he was not certain whether I was having a reaction to my recent surgery or not. Jennifer greeted me, asked what problems I was experiencing, had me provide a urine sample and subsequently directed me to an ED room. She was professional and empathetic, between coughs I commented on how nauseated I was feeling. She said she needed to start an IV and asked which arm was my dominant. Jennifer then explained she would start the IV on my lower arm so that I could bend my elbow (which also was another indication of how caring she was). Throughout my hour stay in the ED, Jennifer kept me fully informed on what she was doing and what other procedures I would be undergoing. I know she was dealing with other patients/issues but what stood out to me was her truly caring attitude, attention to detail, and the way she checked in with me to see how she could make me more comfortable. Jennifer is the embodiment of a nurse who helps provide excellent care with a human touch.
