Jennifer is dependable, reliable, caring, and goes out of her way to meet your every need. I have worked with many nurses throughout our daughter's care and I know that I can rely on Jennifer whenever we have a need or concern; she will do everything within her power to find a solution.
Jennifer has taken the time at visits to answer any questions that we have had such as what over the counter meds are we allowed to give our daughter for allergies and decongestant. Before our daughter was set up for NG feeds, Jennifer could see that our daughter was nervous and upset about it so she took the time to show her the tubes and explain the process to try to help our daughter be less nervous.
We had a situation where our daughter was sick and acting differently than other times. She was crying and sometimes screaming from pain. I called Jennifer as I wasn't sure if it was stomach cramps from a virus that would pass, or something related to her liver disease. Jennifer heard our daughter in the background and advised to get her down to the E.D. immediately. Our daughter ended up in the ICU and the G.I. doctor made a point to say that it was a good call getting her down there when we did. I advised it was the call to Jennifer that made the decision. He made it very clear several times it was good we brought her in when we did, as it ended up being very serious. I was so thankful that Jennifer was skilled to know that something wasn't right just by the sound of my daughter in the background of our phone conversation.
Also, when my daughter had to get started on NG tube feeding, we were concerned with the formula not being covered by insurance and the weekly cost involved. Jennifer explored other ways of getting the needed formula and because of her research, we were able to get almost 3-month supply from the manufacturer for free and it was delivered in 1-2 days.
While our daughter was on NG tube feeding, the amount of intake was controlled by another doctor outside of G.I. Our daughter was struggling with physically being able to handle the amount that they were pushing for. This was very stressful for our family because we were really trying to meet the goal but struggling because it was making our daughter miserable. Jennifer was able to see the stress that we were under and initiated conversations between this doctor and the G.I. doctor. Since our daughter was gaining weight it was decided to just maintain at the level that our daughter was tolerating. I can't tell you how much stress that removed from our family.
