This was a really good stay. I was here for six days and during that time, I was diagnosed with having end-stage COPD. I really didn't know what that meant so I got so upset. I was devastated. I was there, and I was hyperventilating in a panic. Jenny and the head nurse came in and talked me out of it. Usually, you have to have a coach to coach you through difficult times. That's what they did. After that, Jenny came back in my room and she had a long talk with me about what "end-stage" meant. That made me feel a lot better. I was thinking that it was the end. I thought I was about to die. She had patience with me and she talked to me. She embraced me. She just really made me understand what that was all about. I felt so much better after she talked to me. She got me to where I was feeling better about myself. I wanted to recognize her because she went over and above her call of duty. She was great. I know she had a lot of other things to do, but she took the time to really tell me about the COPD and the things that I could do. It was just really wonderful. It was great. I feel so much better about it. I decided to go to my pulmonologist and I am going to get a breathing test. I just don't know what I would do without her. I just love her so much. She did it for me, she really did. I never experienced anything like that before. It was a total shock. It took me by surprise. I thought maybe the doctor would have explained it a little bit to me. I knew that I was in stage 3, but I had no idea what that meant. She is a wonderful nurse and I can tell that she loves her job. You can tell when people really care about you. I know she cares about all her patients the same way she cares about me. She was born to be a nurse. She could be a counselor because she counseled me in a way I have never been counseled before. She made me feel good again. I am so glad I get to recognize her for being such a good job. She is fantastic. Everyone is working hard to keep me out of the hospital, but if I do need care you know where I will be going.
