It was a very stressful day in the ICU for not only my mother but for me, as this was the first time I've ever seen her in a serious illness situation. Jeremy was the nurse assigned for this day and during his 12 hours he barely left my mother's side. He continually checked the multiple tree stands that held more bags of fluid than we cared to count and every time he hooked one up or changed one out he always provided such gentle care and took the time to explain what he was doing. Jeremy continually asked both me and members of our family if we had questions, or could he do something for us. Jeremy provided explanations of what was going on with our mother in a way that we could understand and continually helped ease our minds. Our family is large and many were in attendance; however, Jeremy handled all of us with such finesse and perfect grace if we were in his way, plus his entertaining attitude even had us laughing when we felt like crying!
After 8 days my mother was moved out of ICU to another unit. Jeremy has taken the time over the last week to even stop in and check on my mother and still continues to ask if he can do anything for us. Jeremy's clinical expertise and knowledge is truly outstanding and I can only imagine how Mayo must be proud to have him on your staff!
An article I pulled up online states what makes a great nurse and Jeremy by far has met every trait mentioned; 1. A great nurse is compassionate, 2. A great nurse is empathetic, 3. A great nurse is selfless, 4. A great nurse is self-aware, 5. A great nurse is technically strong with a thirst for knowledge.
Thank you Mayo Hospital and Jeremy for taking such great care of my mother!
