After my father suffered a serious accident while traveling, we spent several weeks in four separate units at two different hospitals. As such, we were exposed to many different nurses and medical staff, all of whom were very helpful, but Jessica really stood out for the level of care and attentiveness and for her proactive ability to make sure my father had the best possible treatment.
My father suffered a spinal cord injury, which required him to wear a c-spine immobilizer collar. He found this collar to be very uncomfortable, and multiple members of the medical staff commented on how it didn't seem to fit right. Yet the general consensus was that he needed this collar, so there was nothing to be done. Enter Jessica. She took one look at my father and noticed that the collar didn't fit well, just like others before her. But in contrast, she immediately got on the phone and ordered a range of different immobilizer collars and found the one that fit him best, greatly improving his level of comfort. Such a simple remedy!
We spent nearly four weeks in total in the hospital with my father, and in all that time Jessica was the only nurse who thought to print out additional information on the types of medication and treatment he was receiving, so that we were better informed about his treatment and some of the medical terms we had been hearing.
For the short time that Jessica was my father's ICU nurse, she made an outstanding impression and worked diligently and efficiently to provide outstanding care. She seemed to accomplish the work of three nurses, all with a smile, utmost competence and sensitivity for us in the family.
